Q: How long is my guarantee valid for ?

A: Your flat roof is fully guaranteed for 10 years which is the guarantee of the manufacturer. If you do have a problem, however minor it is, we will be straight round to identify the problem and fix it for you.

Q: Are you insured in case of a problem ?

A: We are fully insured with QBE Insurance upto the value of 10 million pounds. we do not take chances when it comes to your home.

Q: Do I need to replace any timber work on my flat roof ?

A: When you give us a call and we come to assess the roof, one of our trained staff will be able to tell you if any timber work is needed. Roofing boards are sometimes needed as the old chipboard can crumble if water affected for a long time. It is usually very rare that structural timber needs replacing but in the event of this, all the necessary arrangements can be made as we have a full time joiner working along with us.

Q: Do you need to strip off my old flat roof before you start to fix the new one ?

A: Yes, the roof has to be taken off completely down to the boards if they are not rotten or right down to the existing joist. If it is not stripped down, the moisture that caused your roof to leak in the first place will be trapped underneath unable to get away.

Q: What type of materials do you use to re board my roof if it needs doing ?

A: We use an 18mm exterior grade ply wood which is fixed using 65mm nails.

Q: What method do you use ?

A: We use the traditional roll and pour method, but for the 21st century. All polyester membranes rolled in hot bitumen. Drips to gutter and fascia edges and flashings to wall upstands and tiled areas. This is all done in polyester felt and then 6mm pure washed limestones are spread in a glue to finish. All areas are swept off and left tidy.

Q: What is reflective paint and does it work ?

A: Solar reflective paint is a solution painted on to your flat roof after everything has been done and the job is finished. 2 coats are applied with a roller to the roof and yes it does work for about 18 months to 2 years. Then it has to be re applied as the silver will lose its shine and becomes in affective. We always recommend the pure washed limestones as it looks a far superior job and once it is done they will be there as long as the roof is.

Q: But I can’t walk on the roof to clean my windows then as they will pierce the felt, won’t they ?

A: The pure washed limestones are stuck to the roof in a glue so they are unable to pierce the polyester membrane.
